Actually the R-50 has been discontinued, The RMAX has taken its place.
Both of these helicopters have a ten foot plus rotor span and the R-50 carrys 44lbs and the RMAX is rated at 66lbs Payload, I believe that the SchiebleCamcopter 5.1 is capable of 20 lbs payload.
It is also interesting to note that the R50 and the Camcopter's total weight, are withing three pounds of each other(148/145lbs) but the R50 will carry over twice the payload. Not to mention The R50 has the YACS system as well.
The 246cc, water-cooled, 2-stroke, horizontally opposed 2-cylinder engine has been developed by Yamaha specifically for the RMAX application. The light, compact, yet surprisingly powerful 21-horsepower engine can handle 30 kilograms (27 kilograms on the model with GPS) of practical payload, which is the largest in the industry. Because the engine is water-cooled, it brings its power into full play in a stable manner, even in high-altitude areas or in the scorching sun.
How many Rc helicopters do you know of that have flown an IMAX camera on them?
