I gave in to the low cost of the zoom and the amazing videos. I got it for £300 from rotorsport.co.uk (RTF Kit), a difficult decission because I was offered the Eolo Pro brushed setup for £400. I also got a JR2610 transmitter and a Li ion/LiPo charer for £69. Is this a good deal?

I need reassurance as the whole thing came to £500 including delivery and if it breaks straight off I'll be pissed. How is the stock performance? I am really hoping it doesnt mind this gusty English weather as I'm looking out the window and the trees are swaying (alot).

Whats worse is it was all overdraft! Reassurance please

Good luck mate Im not to far from you. Im gonna get one too but Im actually gonna wait untill Im out of the overdraft for once.

Hopefully Protech will have the new version with the wider footprint by then too. I cant order from abroad because I have £37 on credit at MidlandHelicopters right now.

r1gga, dont fret its an awesome little heli. I haven't flown mine on the stock motor but I hear it's more than adequate. I'm running a MiniAC1215/16 which is not suitable for the Zoom, my Tornado 2025-4200 (same as Himax 2025-4200) should arrive tomorrow. I read of a few stock motors going down early, but the majority seem to be fine.

The only thing I would change from the start is the tail push rod (snake). Get yourself some carbon rod, 2 x ball links, 2 x push rod end and mount the servo either in the stock position (longer carbon push rod) or on the tail boom (short tail push rod). If you order a set of fin mounts these act as a perfect servo mount to put the servo on the boom, if you want some pictures I'll get some tomorrow for you.

Zoom = Awesome heli

Yeah more detailed description of your tail fix would be appreciated, I intend to keep the tail rotor at the end of the boom. As for a new zoom with a wider footprint? I haven't heard anything about that, I believe the current footprint is narrow so as to fit in its box!

carbon can motor not good for you?!?!

I am running my shogun with a a model motors carbon can 16 turn motor, stock pinion,TP 1320 cells and a phonix 25 set to low gov mode and set to 80% across the board. I don't know what head speed or current draw, but neither the pack or the motor gets above 100' f and it flies killer (consecutive flips, and other mild 3d)!!!!! I am gonna hit the lathe and make myself a dual bearing tail pitch slider to take out the slop from the single bearing unit.
