e-Zoom, Shogun, Dolphin > Zoom 400 stock motor?

Hello!

I didn't have luck and my motor felt appart when running it in on the bench. Then I wanted to replace it and I tested four of them, all new:

Permax 400 6V
Speed 400 6V
2x MEGAX 400 6V

I can not get more than 1860 RPM with 3s1500 LiPo!
I borrowed original motor from a friend and WOW, more than 2000 RPM!
So now I realy don't know what kind of 400 the stock motor is.

Can somebody tell me that? I would realy like to fly!

Got nearly the same problem. My stockmotor only last for
1 hour. Tried the sams motors as You with the same result.
It will work for hovering and easy flying around. I did a little
retiming of the speed 400 6V and could then maintain 2000
rpm, which was much better. I then tried a Permax 400BB
with a 11 teeth pinion with 3,17mm bore and could easily
maintain 2400rpm. I think a 10 teeth wil do, too.
The motor doesn`t get very hot and it has much more power
than the stock motor. The motor has replacement brushes
but I`m not able to tell You how long the motor will last. After
short time I had to do some rework on the commutator and
after that the motor was OK again. Maybe the motor was a bad
exsamble, I don`t know. End of story is that the motor is quite
expensive so I´m going brushless: HiMaxx 2025-4200 and
Casle Creation Phoenix 25

I have at home 480 HS/BB motor (ball bearing, 22000 rpm, 105g) and I will try it. I didn't mean to, but if you say that such a weight (permax 400 bb is about the same) is not a big problem i will test it. Just have to test RPM and current draw first! Have you measured it? Have to stay within 15A!

I tried with 480 but was not so good, too heavy for very little extra power. Then I did retiming on the new Megax 400 6v and now i have from 2000 to 2050 RPM. It's OK for hovering and flying around!

My stock motor didn't last long when I was hovering i the livingroom.

I Bought two 400 motors from Jamara but they are to week, then I bought a Multiplex 480 at my local hobbystore and although it is a little bit heavier and longer it work fine so far, I fitted a modified heatsinker to keep it cooler.

Happy landings
