Main Discussion > A question about Stylus \ CCPM heli card

Hello guys.
when using the CCPM heli card i can only seem to assign D\R to the flight mode switch as the D\R function lets you choose a rate for flight modes N, 1, 2, 3 and 4, but i want to assign the D\R to a seperate 3 position switch, not the flight mode switch and im not sure how, since D\R no longer appears in the SW function (switch assignment function) while it was indeed there back when i wasnt using the Heli card.

please advise how can i do it ?
thanks.

Hey I3DM,

Unfortunately, the only way I can think of you doing what you want to do is to setup a different flight mode. You can setup your switches to do anything, so your three position switch will activate a different flight mode with the same settings as your other flight mode, but only have the D/R different.

I thought this feature was a bit odd too, but love the radio anyway.

I wanted to have a stick switch setup so when full negative was applied it reduced the amount of cyclic available so you could not apply too much pitch to the blades, or bind linkages and stuff. And the only way I could do it was to setup up the switch to change flight modes, thus changing the D/R.

Hope that sheds some light on the subject.

I3DM,
You can get a copy of the manual from Airtronics for $10.00.

Here is how you can solve the problem, if there really is one. The Infinity series radios introduced PSS(Programmable Soft Switches) with LOGICAL operators. This carried over to the Stylus in limited form but usable nevertheless. Since the Dual rates are controlled automatically by the FM(Flight Mode) switches it is a simple matter to use the "AND" function and assign an additional dual rate switch to the switch for each flight mode and voila, you have a dual rate switch just like when there is no card in the TX. Now both switches have to be active to make dual rate work. Since there is always a FM active, this works.

Pretty soon unless you want your radio to look like a porcupine with switches sticking out everywhere there has to be a limit on how many switches can do whatever, hence the dual rates were assigned to the FM switches. Sorry it's not like when the Stylus is cardless.

I know the JR US guys don't like PSS but JR Japan's gotta love them. Doesn't the 9X have some form of PSS? I guess they flip flopped on that one.

Terry:
I have brought this dual rate behavior to Airtronics attention a year or so ago as part of a package of software improvements. As far as I know, this has been passed to Sanwa. Whether it will be incorporated or not, Airtronics USA can't tell me.

However, in the meantime I have used flight modes to affect my dual rates. Another technique which is a lot more powerful is to use the model switching capability.

I don't think I can do justice to this method in a few short paragraphs, but it is a great way to alter your model's programmed characteristics all at one time. The details of switching model setups are in the manual.

Agilefalcon,

The alternate model function has been used since the I1000 and I660 models were introduced. Actually I don't consider the dual rates to be an issue on the Stylus as I like this feature myself. This type of functionality was on the I1000 via the PSS although the Infinity's only had a couple of rates whereas the Stylus has a rate for each Flight Mode. In this regard the Stylus is the more powerful radio of the two.

Sanwa seems slow to move on things from our end of the spectrum but I anticipate that they will surprise us all again.
