I have been flying FP Piccolos since Jan. 04. Mastered the whole tail in, side ins, a little nose in. Bought a Zoom last week and now I'm outside doing banking figure eights. I'm grounded till Weds., broke a main blade grip flying in 20mph gusts. Going to get the Fp piccolo out to fly in the garge for the time being.

My 2 cents.

so is the zoom as fragile as the humming bird is? not knocking the hb by the way, just not my thing,or is it a little tougher?

If you think the Hummingbird is fragile, I would advise you to stay away from all CP micros

The HB is like a tank compared to any of the CP micros

Ugh...I'll vouch for that. I get maybe 15 mins of flying time between major repairs in my hornet2; hours in my humingbird. Sure it's pilot incompetence alright, but that fragile tail is always getting me down.

I assume the zoom is a bit better? I'm thinking of a zoom or a CP HB to replace my hornet2...

PBmax, If you cant get the H2 to fly for more than an hour, I wouldnt switch to another micro, maybe you should get something bigger. I am not trying to be rude but micros are only for half crazy people. Barring any major crashes, a hornet 2 should fly for a really long time with no mechanical failures. I usually crash mine well before anything breaks on it

I dont think the HB CP will be too great with that POS tail motor on it, plus I hate not having a driven tail

Just my 2 cents

I can fly my hummingbird for hours w/o damage, in light winds even. Explain that!

It's the tail on the H2 that gets me, not mechanical failures. I know how to put things together! 1 grass landing and the tail pinion is toast, and I won't fly over concrete or alsphalt for fear of completely destroying it when it comes down. I've only really crashed the h2 twice; and on both occasions it was the tail pinion that went.

Hey PbMax

I have only dinged my H2 once and snapped the tail rotor slider after that I made myself a portable Helipad out of some old carpet. I've nearly 48 hrs of flight time on my H2, yes thats alot of 15 min flights.

If you have you heart set on the Zoom, sell me your H2 , I would love to add it to my fleet of 3 Hornets

Yeah, I've been considering the carpet solution. This last time I missed my all-too-small plywood landing pad and planted the tail deep in the grass.

I'll let you know if I totally give up on it

Hah, that's what I was afraid of

I think what I need is a heaping portion of patience and a case of tail pinions!

I dont want to step on anyones toes but IMHP the H2 is better Quality all the way around, atleast for now.The Zoom still has bugs to work out.I have both and just dont want anyone to think the Zoom is the answer. Its a decent second heli in the fleet

PBmax, Wasnt trying to offend you. I went thru my fair share of striped tail pinions when I started out also. The key is to not land in the grass or make a taller/stiffer tail skid that keeps the blades out of the grass. I just fly on/off of the work benches at my flying field, this is about the only way short of the carpet method to protect the gears.

Yeah...I've got 3 munched pinions that agree with you

I just need to take more time (and thought) when going out to the flying field. Haste makes waste! Got into some bad habits with my trusty hummingbird.
