What would be better for the zoom 400:
3 cell 2100 mAh lipo pack or 3 cell 1500 mAh???

The 2100 should give you all kinds of power and duration. The Z400 certainly has enough power to lift the extra weight w/o a problem.

Both the 1500 and 2100 mah 3s packs are really on the heavy side for the Zoom. Sure, it will get off the ground but it's pretty much of a pig with wings after that. There is a trade-off to consider where the search for more duration results in adding weight to the point of impacting flight characteristics. I have 5 Zooms in my fleet at the moment and the premium combination in my experience is a Lipoly pack somewhere in the range between the 1100mah Tanic 3s and the ThunderPower 1320mah 3s. These packs are right on the edge of the trade curve peak where adding pack capacity (which means more weight) starts to make the Zoom sluggish. You will get 9-10 min of outstanding flight power with the Tanics and 10-13min with the ThunderPowers. My initial flights when I got the first Zoom were made using the Kokam 1500mah 3s packs and these were fine, but the lighter packs fly better IMHO.

Wow; I fly 1200mah 3s packs in my hummingbird w/o issues, and the zoom is unhappy with a 1500 3s pack? Seems a bit off with its larger size and motor.

Obviously lighter is better, but a bigger heli should be able to handle more weight easily.

If you want to use the Zoom for just hovering I think the larger packs will just work fine. The larger packs means more mass so more stability and more capacity so more duration.

But if you go for a 3D routine the added mass is not compensated by any add in power. On the last movie of Matthew, he was flying it on a 3S2P pack of Kokam's 350 (good for 60 grams of mass) if I am correct.

Greetings,

Rick

P.S.: I have never seen a Zoom in real-life.

Use 1200-1500 3s. or Konions 3s.

Good to hear all the input. I did close my post with IMHO My post was based on flying experiences with a variety of BL motors and various Lipoly packs. I still think the 2100's are door stops for a heli this size. Again as before JMHO.

No need for filtering I't all about the exchange. I learn new things here everyday and I am older than dirt
