I am using the Sony DSC-S85 in auto mode, fine high res. at 2272X1704 and infinitive. I welcome any ideas on how setup the camera .. The picture to me seens to be out off focus!! Please help..What am I doing wrong?

Looks good! Must be nice not having to worry about the oil residue from the nitro!

As far as a blurry picture goes, make your shutter speed really fast! Unless you can hover flawlessly, which is almost impossible at altitude with wind, you'll keep getting blurred images.

NoSoMo thanks for the info

NoSoMo,

That is a good idea, I am going to set my shutter speed to 1/1000 and see what happen.

Hi Hector

For the most times in good light all you need is 1/500, I often try to shoot lower if the lights there, maybe 1/400.

The first one though is a good start point and usually if you leave the aperture on auto you get around F5. Let us know your results. 1/1000 may be too fast and result in a pretty dark shot.

Cheers

Hi

Just checked the EXIF info on your last JPEG.

Seem's you set it for Aperture Priority of F2.1, you may also want to try try setting your metering to Auto or multi point.

Try 1/500 for ther shutter, leave aperture to auto, change the metering and see what you get back.

Also try a shot early morning when the suns nice and warm, late in the day often results ( IMO ) in poorer shots on the whole, lot of smog around etc.

Pick a nice sunny morning, hold it as steady as you can and give it a go.

Cheers

No problem Hector,

I'm not an expert in no way, shape or form, amateur really, but this is what I'd try first and see what results you get.

Hey Man!!
Looks great! It's a great feeling to finally be in the air is'nt it!?
Try about 1/500 or so, and infinity focus, good light day about 200 iso or better and an f stop of around 2(Ithink) or better.
Great Job!!

NICE SETUP! congrats!

I have the same camera. (Sony DSC-S85)

I always use "SCN" mode, set focus to infinity and let the camera do the rest. This setting sometimes results in a blurry picture.

What happens is sometimes you're in a nice hover when the camera meters the shot but you move the camera during the exposure.

You can go all manual settings and set the shutter speed too, but I opt to just takes more shots, sometimes this results in some nice shots at slower shutter speeds.

hope this helps, Ethan

.......... can also try to add a litlle more weigh on the back of your mount to load the backward bungees, looks like the mount is touching the landing gear and vibrations are passing thru without any damper effect.
PD, nice bull logo

E makes a good point, I have a DSC-V1 - maybe similar, this camera hates SCN mode and loves P mode with about -0.3EV and tight central autofocus. Observation not logic - maybe worth a try.

Happy shooting...

Julian:

I always shoot with my DSC-V1 in "S" mode, and leave the focus locked to infinity. Never had a problem!

The less a camera has to 'think' about, the better - and I've found that if you have any movement at all while it is trying to focus it will either 'hunt' or miss it entirely, and with 'infinity' on the camera at less than 30 feet, everything is always in focus. And it shoots immediately, no delay.

What settings does everyone else use on their DSC-V1?

The Logo I use with the V1 is extremely stable now days, it could be that I had a run of bad shots in S mode co-incidentally with some other problem - why I wrote observation not logic - there is no logical reason I can see why SCN mode would be inappropriate.
