56k users beware, it's almost a meg

I wasn't using video down feed at the time, was a point and shoot test.

The ground equipment is in the bottom left corner

Canon A80 set at large pic, medium res. It's not as sharp as it can be, was taken at 1/60th shutter speed and was at night, I was also just guessing where it was pointing at the time.

Nice job...

Is that a toilet in the driveway?

Nice pic. If you reduced the size overall the resoulution would be better on screen IMO.

Whatever size image you post over the standard screen size will be resized to be able to view it by the browser.

A net browser does a poor job of downsizing images to be able to see them in a viewable size..
It doesnt correct the image or resharpen it well at all, lotsa "jaggies"

Photoshop or pretty much any image editing program will do a better job of it
So, downsize you images in photshop to a veiwable size, 800x600 includes older machines and laptops.
Convert them to sRGB for the Web and retouch if required.
Then re sharpen the image after downsizing in photoshop.

And
If you want to show some part of the image in full size detail then do a 100% crop of that part to 800x600 or a viewable size.
IMO it is not good form to post huge files for people to view in a forum and only takes a minor effort to correct for the benefit of all you want to view it..

Id like to look at every image posted here but if they are all 1MB its gets to be a drag wating fro them to load only the have the browser screen resize them badly anyway.

Cheers

Hi MPA,

"Whatever size image you post over the standard screen size will be resized to be able to view it by the browser."

Are you using IE?
If so you can disable resizing in the options:
(defaults to on)
Tools > Internet Options > Advanced
disable "Enable Automatic Image Resizing "

Cheers,
Jeff

Jeff

One problem.
My screen isnt 3024 pixels wide so not much point in looking at a pic that big on any computer screen.

Point is
PC screens are mostly 1024 or 800, some 640 wide.
Posting anything bigger doesnt serve much use..
Anything bigger you do downsize in any browser to see the whole thing, is munged by the browser inability to correct the downsizing.

And more to the point, the reason many post a larger pic than needed is they possibly belueve it will provide a better image, when viewed in its entirety at 1024, 800 or therabouts in fact the reverse is the case and the image looks worse than it would if they sized it right in PS to begin with.
And it would load a lot faster.

Cheers

I intentionally posted it at its full size for a reason. I run a 1600x1200 resolution, maybe ya need a bigger monitor.

I posted so those out there could get an idea of what a 4mp camera could do. It's set to large image and medium quality.

You don't have to view it if ya wanna complain.

I'm very good with all of the imaging software I have. I wasn't trying to make it small. I put the raw image up intentionally.

If you want to post large images, you go right ahead.
If you dont mind IE mangling them, thats fine by me.
If you dont want to take the advice I offered, feel free to ignore it, most others do regularly.

It is much the same advice Mark has given regarding image sizes for ease of viewing here for, ohhhh, a long long time
Albiet with a little more detail and how to achieve it and retain the quality in your images.

But dont let me stop you posting any old size you like.

BTW
A 4mp camera is something we have all seen around here.
In fact some have seen 8mp.

I have asked the same thing also on other threads. Main reason I asked was mostly for the sake of those who don't have broadband of any kind. dsl, cable or satelite.

Imagine waiting for a photo 1Mb plus to open on a screen. That's 3 plus minutes on 56k

It don't bother me much as I have adsl but not everyone outside the US does as it is still very expensive to setup here.

Still a lovely photo. Wish I had a place like that

don't let it auto resize, hit the button on the bottom right corner, that's if you have XP
