mreed614, started this topic then closed it so no one could reply.

This does sound really fishy, two usernames have only a few posts except "mreed614" Doing a search on any of the three usernames shows posts wich have replies by one or both usernames
Strickland111 or crashdummy or mreed614.

Seeing that it has been a somewhat isolated incident thus far, it would be better dealt case by case, rather than policy. It would take a long time to check so many addresses and so far, I don't think it would be worth the time. The thought did cross my mind to build a bot to scan IP's and mark duplicate accounts for review.

It would be much easier to just PM Mark about suspect posts. I'm sure he would take care of it if he thought necessary.

I have seen some sites where the users IP was marked under their username when they left a post. Adding such a thing in the classified forum's wouldn't be a bad idea.

y'all don't forgot people that access RR from corporate networks, they will all appear to have the same public IP address, the external interface of the firewall. It's not uncommon for several staff at the same company to look at the same site and if one username is tied to one IP, or even for sign up complications can arise, especially just blocking an IP etc.

there is some sick people out there and waiting to take advantage of some nice people. We are starting to get smart and together we can beat these guys. there should be a better way of buying something used off the internet and we need to figure it out.

you can not identify a useron the internet via a single address. Several big ISPs are megaproxies, meanig that not only fo several people come off of one ip address, but one person can also come off of several IP addresses. This is an issues that can only be dealt with higher end protocols, by use of things like cookies (which too can be wiped out by the user) ...

Wojtek , after reading all the garbage this guy has posted the one that makes sense and is correct is your post , just imagine if you had a class C range and could change it per user account using a public
address outside your lan/wan so your router would have a different
IP address everytime and he claims 3 users accounts were used under the same wan ip , and even if they were that doesnt prove that this ip is doing the mask , network and address I think he needs Networking 101 .

Fullagas ,good point , but then why should I and stoop too his ignorance , its his mistake and he should correct the matter and if
he chooses not too , its just one matter this forum is guilty of , I'm
a good guy and would never do any one wrong , thats all that I have
to say in the matter. The member is just upset based on a heli
deal that went bad , its a toy , get over it.

but can you deney how it looks? every post by the other members names had something to do with someone,or some deal you had going,if it smells like a skunk it is a skunk, right? i mean the evidence is there, but what else can you do besides deney it right? the other way is you admit it and everyone hates you so you really have no choice in your eyes i guess.

that would screw anyone on AOL or any other big ISP using dialup...

IP's get rotated tooo quickly for it to be a definitive way..

Hell i can change my ip addy in a few seconds... just by reconnecting my ADSL router...

that doesnt mean to say IP addresses are not a reliable way of banning someone, but hell look at foo how many times has he changed his ip?

the continuous use of a similar ip is good enuff to convince me tho.. but it possibly will leave some innocents exposed...
