I keep a bottle of windex and a roll of paper towels in my field box and the heli cleans up nicely. I use all synthetic oil fuel and I have a harder time cleaning the bug juice off the rotor blades than the oil off everything else.

I use an exhaust deflecter that points down and to the side, so the heli stays pretty clean except for a very light film residue. All you have to do is wipe the oil off exposed surfaces as best you can after flying, unless you fly in a very dusty/sandy area where alot of grime sticks to the oil, then a more detailed cleaning would be in order.

The clean synthetic oil residue is actually good for keeping the bearings and moving parts lubed up, I never have to oil my tail pitch slider because of the exhaust.

Good luck,

Mike

You want to be careful about what you clean. If you use a spray of some sort, be sure you aren't getting any of your bearings with it. Any cleaner containing alcohol will remove the grease from the bearings and leave them dry and unprotected from rust.

I normally just wipe off the goo I can get to with a dry paper towel, and call the rest lubrication. Of course if there's dirt in the oil, you can rinse it down with alcohol, but make certain to oil and grease things imediately afterwards or it will rust up.

Windex attacks the electrical connector plating.

Use 91% alcohol or something like it.

I have found that the Clorox wipes work great.

Also if you fold a single Bounty towelaround the Clorox wipe
you have a moist "quicker picker upper" ;-)

Cheers...Jeff

I just use a cloth and hot water in which a little wash up liquid has been added. Works fine.
Exhaust deflector down and too the side is a must!

heh, I take option "(D) - none of the above". I don't need a shiney silver muffler, it works just fine being a nice golden brown.

Until you start hovering upside down... You can't keep it clean no matter what... Just take it to the carwash and pressure wash it... I usually use alcohol in a spray bottle...

Thanks, John Cadwell

CRC eletrical contact cleaner is perfect. Safe for paint, abs, ect. Also, after a couple of runs I use compressed air 60PSI or less to get into the tight spots. I'm carefull not to blow dirt into bearings and electronic.
