e-Mikado Logo 400 500 600 > Motor options for Kontronik Smile ESC?

I'm finding that the Kontronik FUN 600-15 motor in my Logo 10 is a bit weak so I am thinking of upgrading, but would still like to use my old ESC (Smile 50-6-18). I would like to know which motors will work with this ESC for light 3D.

At the moment I'm thinking a FUN 600-18, but I would be interested to know any other motor options e.g. Hacker, Aveox, HB, Plettenberg.... Also if anyone has any tips to improve my current set up that would be good.

Oh and I'm running 13 cells, maybe one day will go to LiPo's.

Cheers

I am currently running the Hacker C15-13L with the Schulze 18.46K and 4S4P lipo. This combo has performed very well, good power and about 18 mins of 3D and Acro. Hovering you should get in excess of 20 min. The C50-13 is currently in stock at several dealers, I just checked FS Areomadel and they have it as well. I ran the C50-13L on 12 nimh cell and it performed OK. The lipos really woke it up a great deal. Hope this helps.

Thanks Dave, I thought I could maybe save some money by just changing the motor but it looks like a full refit is in order!

Davo,

You should go over to logoheli.com and ask there. You could also take a look at KC's spreadsheet in the electric heli forum on rcgroups.

KC's spreadsheet could help you evaluation different setups for your Logo. You may find that a move to Lipo and higher voltage may be the way to go with the motor you currently have.

People are looking at higher voltage setups with lower KV motors as a way to increase efficiency. Lots of dicussions on this topic if you are not yet familiar with it.

I have used the AVEOX 36/30/1.5 and it perform very well with good power, the motor ands 12 cells of HRSC2600 is a perfect combo. The 4S4P is equal to 12 cells, but the lost in weight made the Logo10 flies better and have good climb out power and with 8000mah for longer duration.

Thanks for the replies guys! thangd I will have a look into that motor, is it cheap??? JoeR your idea sounds very interesting, it would be great to be able to use the kit I've already got otherwise it's junk. Maybe a 5s3p LiPo pack would be a good solution? Either way it looks like I will be going LiPo soon
