I just learned the hard way that my low battery indicator does start beeping until the battery reaches 8.5 volts. This is leaves virtually no time to acknowledge the alarm and land. Fortunately, a tree stopped my heli and stopped a very threatening situation. I did not realize what had happened until I looked down at a blank screen. I had just restarted the engine less than a 30 seconds prior to the battery goind dead. So the alarm would have audible since the heli was not running. Please let me know what voltage sets your alarm off. Should this thing go back to Futaba?

Please cancel my clearance, I have the field in sight.

voltage indicater

Mine goes off at 8.8 also. Your meter may need calibrating, it is adjustable, but you have to have a service screen enabler to do it. Probably just send it back to Futaba and tell them about it.

The 9Z has some voltage drop between the battery and the alarm circuit, so 8.5 V in the 9Z is the same as 8.8 V in something like the 8U. You'll also that the voltage fresh off the charger is a bit lower than you'd see in other radios.

Like David, I have never seen a 9Z go dead so soon after the alarm starts up. With the old 800 mAh pack, I had mine go for at least five minutes, possibly up to ten minutes with the beeper going. I was doing a setup and didn't want to take time out to recharge. In the end the beeping wore me out, but the radio was still going.

9Z Warning

I too have had this happen during setup (never at the field) and had more than enough time to become annoyed by the beeping. Seemed like forever, but I would guess that it lasted for 5 minutes or more. If your xmitter dies immediatly, there is reason for concern.

No it was not my gasser. It was the Sceadu 50. If that would have been the gasser I would still be crying.
