e-Mikado Logo 400 500 600 > Fitting Futaba S9650 into Logo 10

Phew!

Just managed to get all 3 servos in place on my Logo 10.

I had to do some major modification to the frames and servos.

The main problem is that the S9650 is bigger than a mini, but smaller than a standard servo. So it will not fit as standard.

The S9650 comes with extra lugs on the side which need to be removed. I used sharp electrical clippers. Also the top lugs need to be filed down about 2-3mm on each side before fitting rubber grommets. The vertical gap of the servo apertures on the Logo frames is too narrow. I cut about 3mm off top and bottom edges to allow the servos to fit through.

I tried fitting one onto the tail, but there is no way to secure it (either side of the frames) without resorting to more handcraft. So to hell with it and just fitted a S9253.

Another problem I had was that the longest standard servo arm I had was still less than 20mm (for 3D). I'll have to conjure up something longer (with the large round arms) or buy something that will fit.

Have not flown it yet, but hopefully it will be very good setup.

Any update on these servos on the L10??

I am trying to figure out which servos to buy at the moment for mine.

Thanks for any info

I use the Futaba S9650 on my Logo 10. The servo wheel they give with it is too small. You can use the regular standard servo arms and wheels, they fit perfect.

S9650

Carbon frames! - That's cheating Saint728

So you did no modifications to the frames then?

The servos are brilliant. Probably the best servos you can get for the Logo10. Only thing is that you have to make up some longer arms using the big Futaba wheels.
Even then, you get 19.5mm servo arc not 20mm as recommended in the manual.

I had to file the frame holes bigger, about 3mm on the bottom. I used a piece of metal as a guide and clamped it onto the frame. Then I used my Dremel tool to sand most of it down. Then when it was close to the metal, I used my file to get it straight. It took about 15 minutes to do. If your going to use the Futaba servos on a standard Logo 10 frame you need to make sure you move them away from the main shaft. The servos are a lot bigger then the mini servos you might be using now. If you place them in in the middle of the shaft, the back of the servo will hit the shaft. You need to make sure it's in front of the shaft.

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

I just got my 9650's in and they only came with the servo wheel, a little one.

Do they normally come with arms??

If not anyone know which arms will fit so I can get this bird in the air.

Saint, I just read your post, I have some standard arms so that should work

Tabb, the servos only come with the one small servo wheel and mounting hardware. Just use the standard Futaba servo arms or wheels, because the servos final gear is the same size as a regular size Futaba servo.
