what about "learned with both" ? I made sure to play in rate mode some when I was learning... (still am learning, it is just that I have moved on to 3d... never ends does it )

Funny you mentioned that.

I met this guy flying in a field one day doing crazy stuff compared to my level. Inverted auto's rolling circles etc... This guy lands and I started looking over his machine. I asked him where he hid the Gyro. All he had was the old school futaba little rate gyro. I was in shock. He wasn't that old maybe 30's but said he had been flying since everything was mechanical. I asked him if he tried a HH gyro and he said yes and it messed him up bad. He said he was forcing himself to on another machine mainly because he wanted to start flying backwards. Has anyone seen anyone do anything beyond srtaight backwards flight and turns without a HH gyro. Just curious.

I learned in Rate Mode. Currently I fly about in ID1 in Rate mode and have HH for Normal and ID2. However, I'm going to change ID1 to be in low gain HH I think. Makes it easier to stunt with (without having to drive the tail the whole time).
