I recently bought a TP 3S4P pack and plan to give it a go soon. For those of you using LiPos, how are you making sure you don't over discharge your packs? I have a Kontronik ESC (UBEC too) and it doesn't have a programmable LVC. Thanks.

Hey Lance,

Since I don't have a low volt cutoff on the Hacker ESC either, I just did a series of flights and did periodic time/voltage checks on each to find an average safe time for my heli. So far so good !!

Ralph,

Sounds plausible to me... What is your average safe time? I can program an alarm into my 9C. Your using a 3S4P TP7800? Thanks.

I use 20 minutes, which is a bit short of the actual average time (actual was around 24 and the pack wasn't at the low end limit). I'm using the 8200mah pack. I also stop at 20 to reduce the recharge time at the field a little bit. I would probably do a set of tests on your config though as the current draw is going to vary somewhat.

Thanks Ralph. So what is your cutoff voltage then? Do you land, disconnect and measure the battery voltage? What voltage would indicate it's time to stop? I have a 7800mAh pack and I was guessing 20-25 minutes.

I got mine from Espirit Models . At the time they were the only ones with any stock. A better choice now may be TP Packs.com. They have all the sizes and the latest versions (capable of 10c discharge).
