Miniature Aircraft Nitro/Gas Helicopters > Fury Torque Tube Replacement

Hello,

What are my options for replacing the torque tube in the Fury? It looks like MA only supplies the complete unit, that is with ends and bearing unit. Has everone been replacing this with the $30 tube or is there other quality options?

Thanks.

Bergen

I use a bergen TT system.

They used to sell a conversion kit for the older XL's.

I am sure if you called them, they could set you up.

It uses an aluminum or carbon arrow shaft. I just buy them from the sporting goods store. I just strip off the feathers and cut it to length.
They are only $5 each and you use the same bearing and tips over and over again.

I don't use universals on mine, but bergen also has the universals that fit into the XL drive cups.

Factory parts

Crash;
I don't know what the new ones are made from, but Miniature Aircraft for many years used standard arrow shafts from Beeman for the t/r drive shaft, and they said so right on the shaft. There have been reports recently on this forum that some of the glue joints have been failing and were inadequately glued from the factory. Now if the factory isn't doing a good job of gluing the ends, and I can buy the same part and glue it myself, why should I buy the factory pieces? It's not at all clear to me that my homemade shafts aren't superior to the factory supplied parts. Steve.

The fury torque tube is 28 bucks, that is a good deal considering that it has everthing you need allready on it and its built for you. I know for the Vigor CS one of the dogbone ends is $35, no shaft, no bearings, nothing, makes the MA tube seem cheap.

Just thought i would add this,i had a se piro to its death when i picked up the battered beast the boom was intact witch contained the torque tube,it looked fine untill it grabbed the ends witch i could spin with no effort.CHECK YOUR TUBES AND REGLUE or make your own then you will know they will hold.

Just a note I thought I'd put out for your opinions.

The factory glues the bearing in the middle of torque tube!? At least mine came this way.

Isn't there good reason (Physics) to have the bearing offset a couple of inches from the center? The middle point is a node for standing wave
