Hello I'm having trouble with an arcamax pi system gyro, cant get the gain adjusted to stop the tail wag....I flew a miniboy about 10 years ago with no gyro so all this is greek to me....radio is an 8uhs and the gyro switch if assigned to f which is broken. The (raptor 30) coptor will hover but has severe tail wag at higher rotorhead speeds. I guess my question is , how can I turn down ( or adjust ) the gain on this gyro.
P.S. the manual adjust on the gyro itself seems to have no effect. Thx in advance...........keep the dirty side down or maybe not if u 3D.:

I would first start with your T/R linkage. Is it completely free moving? Then make sure you have only a long enough servo arm to alow full travel, but not over travel. Make sure the gyro is isolated from vibrations, but securely mounted so as to not flop around. Next check for any flex in the tail boom. Then you can check tracking and balance of the tail blades.

The pot. on the unit is for manual gain adjust. There are two micro switches, one for reversing the gyro, and one for remote or manual gain. If the switch for the gain is set to remote, the pot. on the unit has no effect.

That's about all I can think of off hand. Anybody else?

You can with the Futaba 8UHS assign the Gyro mix to Switch G (Idle Up). So you can in effect make the choice of (Norm/HH) part of the Idle Up function. That is what I do. I have for NORM a setting of 32, Idl1 63, and Idl2 32. So I am in heading hold for Norm (hovering) and Idl2 (acrobatics) and Norm Gyro mode for Idl1 (forward flight)

Remember the ATV on CH 5 is now the pirorette rate.
You might also want to use a little Expo on CH 4

Assuming you have it set up as per the manual:
RX1 lead into rudder channel
RX2 lead into an auxiliary channel

The aux channel you use for the rx2 lead does 2 things for you. The position of the switch determines if you are in HH or normal mode. The travel (end point adjustment) for each switch position determines the gain for that mode. For example, if you use switch back for normal mode, adjust the travel for that switch position to adjust the normal gain. Adjusting the travel for switch foreward will adjust the HH gain. The piroette rate is adjusted by changing the end points for the rudder channel. The rudder servo end points are set using the gyro control box, not the end points for the rudder channel.

Hope this helps, Stu
