I might be moving to the philadelphia area in the next month or so. I have a job interview coming up, and If I get the job, I will need to find some pilots to hang around with, a field to fly at, and a good hobby shop. If you could help me out and give me some information about the local area there, that would be great. Thank you very much for helping me out.

I think my wife has a fry pan that is bigger than the entire state of Delaware... You may want to have a look at these folks. They also have links to some local shops on their homepage.

Delaware RC club

I'm about an hour from Delaware, Half an hour north of Philadelphia.

Thanks for the info there, If I get the job, and the apartment I am looking at....then I think this will be the best place for me to fly. Ran a map from the apartment to the airfield, and its within a half-hour drive from me. Good lookin out for me.

Thanks again,

Magik

Justin I can tell you that the folks down at the delaware r/c club are a great bunch. I've visited their field several times. Its a large club with fixed wing planes and helicoptors. They have 2 large runways. I go there for their Warbirds Over Delaware event in the summer. They also run the east coast hirbo cup but this year the helicoptor event is called helis over delaware. There is info about the helicoptor event on this forum. Not sure why the name change. I went to their heli show last summer and thats when I got the helicoptor bug. They have local hobby shops show up at the field with trailors to sell stuff. Really nice. Rob

Sounds like a great field. I went to the website, and took a look around. Very nice looking field! I also mapped it out, and where I might be living is about 25 minutes away. Since I am going to be moving without my sig other, I will have lots of time to spend at the field. my girl is going to follow me shortly after I get the job. She just had a death in the family, and has lots of stuff to do to get that house ready to be sold.

The interview that I had for the job got delayed due to complications with the contract , so I dont know when It will move forward now. Hopefully soon. I need a change of pace from the cold, snowy, cold, snowy, 3 months of good weather, buffalo. I know DE isnt that much better, but its not as much snow.

Hello Justin,

Let me know if you have any questions regarding the Delaware R/C Club or its field.

Usually, we don't get that much snow down here. We are right on the rain/snow line due to our proximity to the ocean. 20 miles north usually gets significant snow fall. We usually get a mix.

Good luck with the job interview!

Best,
