Hey Concept1, I've sent you a PM and e-mails to both Jschicksps@sbcgobal.net and .com, just as you have indicated in your post and response to 330xi. I got no response. What's going on? Is there a typo in your e-mail adress such as "global" instead of "gobal"?

Thank you!

This guy is "the man"! I received an email saying that the shipment went out USPS and just a few days ago (mon or tue) and came home last night to find the shipment from him.

I promptly took the pack apart and tested the cells - 100% functional. Built a few packs, charged up and went flying - I am absolutely stoked!

Picked up a 4400kV motor to account for the lower voltage, so I'll give that a shot this weekend (including my new TP610C A123-capable charger that charges @ up to 10A).

Bottom line, an honest guy that really takes care of his customers.

I'll be buying from him again once he's back in town from his travels.

Anyone got some suggestions on how best to put these cells in pack form? I want to make a few 7.4V 2S1P packs and some 2S2P packs. What size shrink wrap do I use. Also, what is the best method to connect individual cells together. I was thinking of using battery solder/weld tin. This web site has supplies http://www.onlybatterypacks.com. Is there another site for pack making materials that's better? Appreciate any help!

Thanks for the link John. It was very helpful.

Each of the two packs I got had one cell with very low voltage (0.63±V). I charged the individual low voltage cells up to full (3.7±V). The charge capacity was about 2400mAh on each and they seem to hold their charge (at least for the past 48 hours). Should I reasonably expect these cells to be OK or do I need to discard them?

Anybody want to go in on a pack? Or does any body want to sell 3 or 6 1100mah cells?

I may order a few more of the 1100 packs, i haven't found them to good for heli use, but they work great in all my kids toys like the 9.6v radio shack and toys r us r/c cars and boats! 3cell packs seem to work very well in my 7yr olds 9.6v r/c car and boat! the stock packs are 800mah so the 1100 3 cell gives great run time.

I'm interested in switching my starters to A123 mainly because I'm not flying as often as I have in the past and the the NiCD batteries I've been using loose their charge too quickly when not in use. I'm tired of having to cycle my starter packs each time I want to go to the field.

At the risk of hijacking this thread, can anyone summarize how to determine which cells are bad? My understanding is that load testing A123 cells is not an effective way to test them. I'm assuming it requires testing the voltage of each individual cell, charging each cell to 3.7v and then confirming that the charge voltage remains steady for a few days.

greg,

that is pretty much it, with the packs I have gotten, the module mainly goes bad so some of the cells in the pack just don't get charged, depending on how long the pack has been sitting with low cells and depending on just how low they are determins, if the cells will come back to life. but I generally test the cells with a volt meter and generally the cells will be pretty close in voltage with 1 or 2 out of wack in comparison, those cells i remove and charge, and test.
