How is everyone mounting their Scorpion 55A ESC's on their Beam's? This ESC is huge compared to the Quark 33A I had in my SE.
Please post pics if possible.

Thanks,
JAy

Don't have the scorpion but should be plenty of room on the side...

I had a Scorpion 55amp ESC once for my 6 motor, and its way over kill. All you really need is 45amp max. I'm using now the Align 35amp and it works just fine.

Have you guys tried mounting it on the tray under the battery try?

works wonders for me and it looks cleaner... I'm not sure if cooling will be a problem or not, but i haven't had any problems running it there

Doesn't the Scorpion 55amp ESC add like an extra pound of weight to the Beam E4 also? That thing is mamoth in size!!!!

I like it on the side it is a lot more protected. I've seen nose in crashes that break the battery tray and shove it down and break the capacitors off. Plus cooling is better on the side, temps get to 110 here in the summer so cooling is an issue.

You may want to try this.
It isn't a a Beam but you get the idea.

Thanks for the tips everyone.
I am running the -6V2 motor with the 55A ESC. The length of the ESC minus the wires is almost the same as a FP 3S pack, so it would be a tight fit under the battery plate.

I'll take everyone's ideas into consideration for my layout.
Thanks again!

I previously had my scorpion 55A ESC under the battery tray and it was overheating badly..to the extent that the heatshrink around it shrunk further and exposed a little bit of the PCB underneath.

I contacted Scorpion Precision Industry and they reccommended me to mount it on the side to get more air over the heatsink which i will try next.

Maxxx,
with the rx mounted at the back and ESC mounted at the side, wouldn't your heli be tail-heavy?

Get a BEC to prevent overheating also.

No, the futaba 6ch rx fasst is really light and with this configuration the CG it's ok..

Curious why not use the Jazz 40-6-18 on this heli....?

...Once upon a time there were Nitros, flybars and frequency pins...
