Crazy as it may seem, but has anyone ever used or heard of anyone using an air filter for his heli.
For every one out there that might be thinking"Why the in does this person need an air filter when a heli spends 99.99999% ,or so, of its time in the air", my argument is that where we fly (take off and land)gets to be quite(very) dusty for lack of any other place to go and for some apparent reason we really lack this thing called rain thus the lack of lush green vegitation.(please excuse the really long sentence).
I often come back from my flying session with so much dirt on the inside of the cooling shroud, that you can literally scrape it off with a screw driver.
Please advise

I agree with you we need one. Even in the absence of dirt the clutch lining blows right into the engine as it wears away.

I have just started to use an air filter My brother picked up
an air filter for his plane and I asked him to get me two for my planes
and I also found excessive dirt on my fan shroud I installed it and flew
for about 3 tanks and got home and removed it anf found that it was dirty imagine what was going in to my engine !!!!!!!!!!!!
The first step in gettin help is admitting you have a problem ( yes I am addicted to helicopters )

Hi,
I've tried to use air filters on my engines but end removing them because they do rest considerable power from the engine.

Hi,
I have a filter on my os37. But I don't know if the engine is putting out less power. I guess it does rob some of the power but it still has more power than my previous engine. I started using one after I destroyed my hirobo 36 engine in a crash on some sand. So when I bought my os engine I installed a filter.
I use an airfilter, I use the one from ricks on every single heli I own (14 to date) From C-specs to os.32 it gets em, I've not noticed a considerable power loss and I wring the living crap out of my helis....honestly I cant tell a difference, Click here for the link I trashed an engine out many moons ago, not from the direct crash but with the funcky chicken dance after when the engine sucked in a pound of dirt....the air filters have save every single one of my chicken dance crashes scince....Costs $9-11 bucks worth of insurance on a $299-400 engine....
