Who wants to save there heli?

Some bring a huge towel with them to throw it on the heli in the case of the dance

That's called a Rube Goldberg Failsafe. I built one that attaches to the head incase I land inverted. But it needs a lot of string for a ten minute flight.

I carry a shovel in the truck. I'll beat it to death before it gets the chance to do it itself.

The problem with nylon bolts is you cant get a large enough size that will withstand a normal hard landing. I can break those 1/4" bolts with one bounce with my plank.

Try a sliding auto with nylon bolts and OFF comes the landing gear. Not too mention they get brittle pretty quick and snap easily after a couple months.

A simple return spring on the throttle should have saved that. Looks like the battery disconnected.

Just watched that video again. I love that one.

In this case however, the nylon screw thing WOULD not have worked. He landed INVERTED or close to it. A return spring is the only thing that would have worked. Or a moving blanket and a bat.

I had the very same thing happen to my Raptor 50 SE with a OS 50 Hyper. When the heli crashed the canopy pushed back onto the throttle arm and it went over centre locking it on full noise. There was no way it could possibly be shut down and thrashed about with shortened rotors till the punctured header tank ran out. Lucky this all happened about 80mtrs away so it had died before we got there. I copped a lot of stick about it though. There is no way a return spring would have prevented it as the servo had been forced past its full throw and stripped and the throttle arm was jammed with the crossed over control rod.
From every crash you learn something even if its only how to entertain.

Aww common people...
Just the other week i had a far more spectacular write off!!!

Out at a new club....
Only heli guy there...
3'rd flight since a rebuild....

2/3'rds of the way through a rather hard flight, come to an inverted hover and for the first time in my life i experianced a woof...

Now i thought the full metal head and infinivation dampners i had put in a couple of weeks ago would help...
Maybe even the ECCPM conversion taking out the slop would help...

But nooooooo...

The thing hit itself so hard the boom was torn clean out, the heli itself kicked itself up the arse so hard it gained almost 10 ft altitude, lost much of the tail case, bent Everything, had 2 links left on the entire heli (thats one on a blade grip and the throttle).

I guess i was lucky there was no funky chicken... but then again the raptors a write off... was before it even hit the ground haha.

Gonna hit up a T-rex and rebuild the rappy over the next 6 months or so whilst at uni....

Hmmmm, shame it wasnt filmed :S

-Jvr

Ps, i only found 5 peices of the tail belt :S

Looks to me that the flipped too low, and not that the battery died.
Maybe the battery died after impact though.

They say things like "engine off!" and "does not work", "get away!" and "oh no!".

looks like he was a little low but the heli jumped backward, either a very bad dumb thumb but the nature of the arc looks more un-controlled to be fair...

either way, no time for throttle hold heh.

Here is my antichicken dance spring om my gasser. Just enough spring tension to slowly close the throttle on loss of power. I'd rather burn a few extra milliamps than have the chicky doo dance.
