Thank you,but I'm well aware of that one as me and MICRO have been having a friendly go around about the BLDD tail so far thats the only reference we have we're trying to see how many people out there have the BLDD mod and what the success rate is,and what the successful set ups are

CC Phoenix 10
Feigao 12X30 with GWS DD shaft/prop adaptor and 4530 prop

Program the cc10 like this...

http://www.runryder.com/helicopter/...enix+Link+GY240

I've been using this setup for over 2 years. right at 260 hours. I added a custom 20% emediate brake to the cc10 and that solved the slight nose right issue where the motor would not slow fast enough. Holds hard in punchouts...a couple inch slip sometimes but snaps back a few feet up into the punchout. Great transitions from left bank turns to right banked turns.

Simply works great.

I'll reply here instead of the Feigao thread.

I was the one who had problems with the tail sort of dying, but that was only after I changed to my second battery. I am pretty sure that my problem was due to the tail ESC being too hot and then the ESC was only recognizing my 3-cell lipo as a 2-cell lipo and then shutting the tail off because the ESC was setting the wrong auto-cutoff for voltage. I changed the placement of my ESC so it wouldnt overheat and have not had the problem since.

The brushless DD tail + g90 gyro has worked as well as I have needed it so far in my slightly aggressive FF flying as well as in a hover. I just want to point out that I am pretty sure that in these threads (and others) that you are more likely to see people posting problems with a setup and not necessarily successes......since many people with perfectly fine setups see no need to make posts

My setup is of course:
Feigao 1208436L/4122kv/EP3020(press on)
CC TB9 Mfr Settings
GY401 HH DS Delay0 Limit100 100%Travel 30%Gain(DX7 GEAR=45%)

Only 200+ flights (27+hrs) on it so far but I love it

I've also flown this motor/esc with a G90 and 2100T

My setup doesn't require any trim sub-trim or special programming of any kind other than a rudder disable mix with throttle-hold and the only time I've experienced drift is with the G90 which behaves the same in every scenario I've put it in - I don't recall drift with my 2100T and certainly not with my GY401

I seen all the issues with the need to adjust the PHX10 when I was studying to go BLDD myself and was afraid I'd also have to shell out for a PHX10 to get it to work but took a gamble on the cheap TB9 so I guess I got lucky and my gamble paid off as it was literally plug and play without any weird behaviors and no shelling out for a PHX10&Link which kept the cost reasonable :whew:

My BL/separates setup:
E-flite G90 HH gyro
CC Phoenix 10
Feigao 1208436L/4122kv with GWS DD shaft/prop adaptor and 3020 prop
Gyro rate set at 90% on DX7/AR6100

Tail holds very well on hard punches - only moves about 1".

I compare this to my stock CPP with G90 on stock tail and advanced timing on stock motor - for normal hovering and forward flight, no difference.

You will only notice the difference when doing aggessive 3D or hard punches.

IMO, the BL upgrades give a sense of security knowing that the brushes will not wear out, but at a significant $ cost... my "stock" CPP will stay stock.

My setup:

Park 370 Brushless Main w/CC 25A ESC
Feigao 1208428:5300KV w/CC 10A ESC with 3020 Press on Prop.
G90 HH Gyro
JR XP6102 TX using remote Gyro Gain. (Gear Channel, switch off, -80 subtrim)

I found the tail was a little difficult to setup at first. Once I got the CC10 setup and realized how the remote gyro gain functioned everything went well. I also setup a throttle hold program to give full left rudder to shut down both motors as the tail constantly spins in the neutral position, it does not spin enough to move the heli but it does spin.

The tail motor barely gets warm and seems to hold better in the wind than the stock setup with the G90. I also found that the tail boom flexes a little too much so i reinforced it slightly.

I also find that the G90 seems drift a little sometimes. It did the same thing with the stock motor as well.
