Vario Benzin Trainer--Just out of the box--AWESOME!!

I have got to say that the Vario Benzin Trainer 8301 is clearly an awesome helicopter right out of the box. I bought my Benzin from Starwood Models and the muffler and other goodies from East Coast Scale Helicopters. Everything I ordered arrived quickly and in great condition. I could not be more pleased with the purchase of my Benzin. The design and machining of this machine is outstanding.

Building my Vario Benzin Trainer

After I received a few PM's from people wanting to know about my new Vario Benzin Trainer Kit #8301 I decide I would just photograph and weigh the helicopter after each page of assembly. My opinion so far is that this kit is truly the most enjoyable helicopter kit I have built. Everything about this kit is covered. Each page of the manual has a corresponding bag that is heat sealed with only the parts needed for that page. Every part of the helicopter is so well designed and machined that it goes together without any hassles. This is my first Vario machine and so far all I can say is that I am VERY impressed and happy.

It's been a while since updating the progress of this machine. I still love it. This machine has done everything I have needed and expected of it. I have had a couple of little glitches which are really more setup issues not problems. I went through a period where I felt like the machine was just too easy to fly and I felt like I was over-controlling it all the time. I changed the head dampening to the hard O-rings and two thick shims on both sides. I also changed the blades to the 810 symmetrical V-Blades. This made a huge change in the feel of the helicopter. I like a helicopter that reacts when I add the input and stiffening things up did the trick for me. I have bought but not yet put on the inertia weights for the flybar and a carbon tail control rod. The only thing to happen so far the kept me from flying was a broken muffler clamp. It failed at the bend. I ended up ordering a boom mounted clamp to replace it and this seems to be working well. I have flown this helicopter many many times. The engine is running great and I have not had any problems with it in any way. This machine has been hauling around camera gear and does it without a noticeable effort. I have still not yet changed the wire tail rod to the carbon rod and I have also not yet used the inertial weights. I bought 9206 servos to replace the 9252's on the controls but again I have not yet switched them out. The Benzin is an excellent machine and I am very pleased. Thanks for looking. Keep checking back. I will be posting pics until the heli is completed. **Last Updated 2-0-07**
Vario Embroidery

My wife owns an embroidery business and I do a lot of the design work for the business. Of course with the permission of Vario I recreated the Vario logo to put on my clothes. I wanted to keep the logo as presentable to Vario as possible but still personalizing it so I added "Benzin" to it. I must say I think it turned out quite nice and I can only suspect that Vario is pleased with the end result. I wear this sweatshirt almost every day and proudly display the Vario name.

NOTE: These are NOT for sale so unless Vario is asking for them you won't get one.
